Dr. Jessica Green joined international leaders from engineering, medicine and public health to discuss the future of healthier indoor environments

WASHINGTON, July 28, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Indoor Air Innovation & Research (iAIR) Institute successfully hosted its Scientific Leadership Forum, "Indoor Air Quality, Public Health and the Future of Healthy Buildings," alongside the 2026 ASHRAE Annual Conference in Austin, Texas, bringing together leading voices from engineering, medicine, academia, government and industry to explore the future of healthy buildings and indoor environmental quality.

The event featured Jessica Green, Ph.D., Program Manager at the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) and leader of the BREATHE (Building Resilient Environments for Air and Total Health) program, as keynote speaker and guest of honor. Dr. Green shared ARPA-H's vision for accelerating breakthrough innovations that enable buildings to better monitor, understand and respond to airborne health risks, drawing on her two decades of experience across academic research, biotechnology and entrepreneurship.

The Scientific Leadership Forum was convened by Dr. John McKeon, Founder of the iAIR Institute, President of the ASHRAE Ireland Chapter and Medical Director of Airmid Healthgroup. The event formed part of the Institute's ongoing mission to advance evidence-based dialogue at the intersection of building science, public health and innovation.

The event was recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) as an approved continuing education activity, with participants awarded two Learning Units in Health, Safety and Welfare (LU|HSW). This recognition reflects the significance of indoor environmental quality and occupant health as core considerations for the built environment.

Dr. McKeon also highlighted the role of ASHRAE in shaping healthier building standards and practice through initiatives including the Environmental Health Committee, the Center of Excellence for Indoor Environmental Quality and the Society's continued leadership in indoor environmental quality standards and guidance.
