GAITHERSBURG, MD - July 21, 2026 - Church of the Redeemer will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, August 3, 2026, at its Gaithersburg Campus, giving area residents the chance to give blood and giving volunteers the chance to serve alongside the Red Cross medical team.

The blood drive will take place in The Commons at the Gaithersburg Campus. Donors are welcome from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and volunteers are needed on site from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to help the event run smoothly from start to finish.

The Red Cross will provide the trained medical team needed to collect donations. Church of the Redeemer volunteers will support the effort by helping register donors as they arrive and guiding them through the check-in process, freeing up the medical staff to focus on the donations themselves.

Blood donations remain in high demand throughout the region, and organizers say the need is one many families understand firsthand. A loved one or friend who has needed a blood transfusion is often the reason someone decides to give for the first time, and the drive is designed to make that decision as easy as possible.

"Someone in our community is going to need blood today, and someone else has the ability to give it," said a Church of the Redeemer spokesperson. "Whether you're rolling up your sleeve to donate or standing at the registration table to help, you're part of that story."

Those interested in donating blood can sign up online through the American Red Cross. Those interested in volunteering to help with registration and support during the event can register directly through the church's outreach sign-up page. Both donors and volunteers are encouraged to register in advance to help organizers plan for the day.

Church of the Redeemer is a multicultural, multigenerational church with campuses in Gaithersburg, Clarksburg, and Frederick, Maryland. Founded in 1986 by Pastor Dale O'Shields, the church's mission is to connect people to God and His church, help them grow into fruitful followers of Jesus, and equip them to sow back into their community.
