Amazon Extreme Pioneer Tour's yellow tent draws 120 people in a rural community near Leticia, with seminars on family, communication and drug awareness; Red Cross invites the team to join humanitarian mission

LETICIA, Colombia, Oct. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Scientology Volunteer Ministers on the Amazon Extreme Pioneer Tour set up their yellow tent alongside the Colombian Red Cross and the Correcaminos Foundation this month for a day of community outreach in a rural settlement near Leticia, in the "Three Borders" region where Colombia meets Brazil and Peru. Some 120 people attended, including children, parents, Red Cross workers, foundation volunteers and members of the local military detachment.

The Red Cross and the Correcaminos Foundation organized the event, the second of its kind, to engage young people in a low-income community with few services. The Volunteer Ministers were invited to contribute seminars, and from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. the tent operated beside the children's activities at the center of the site. The team delivered seminars to children and adults and held one-on-one conversations throughout the day.

Visitors were drawn most to the tent's displays on family relationships, communication and responding to drug use, the three subjects they raised most often with the Volunteer Ministers. By the end of the day, the Red Cross field coordinator had invited the team to join a humanitarian mission to river communities, working alongside Red Cross crews and faith groups from Bogota to provide emotional and personal support.

The Amazon Extreme Pioneer Tour arrived in Leticia in mid-October after shipping its tents and equipment from Bogota. Working with local community partners, the team has met with the Director of Civil Defense of Leticia and with the mayor of the indigenous community of Puerto Nariño, who welcomed the program and offered a site for the tents. At the request of the regional Secretary of Education, the Volunteer Ministers delivered a seminar on affinity, reality and communication and on resolving conflicts to Ministry of Education staff. Oliver, the tour leader, was also interviewed on Fantástica 103.9 FM, broadcast live on YouTube.

"The Red Cross and the foundation know these communities and we know the tools, so working together made sense from the first meeting," said Oliver, leader of the Amazon Extreme Pioneer Tour. "People came into the tent asking about their families and about drugs, and they left with something they could use."

The tour will continue in the Colombian Amazon through December. Information on the Volunteer Ministers and their free online courses is available at volunteerministers.org.
