NEW YORK, May 7, 2026
NEW YORK, May 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Russian School of Mathematics (RSM), in partnership with Brookfield Place, will celebrate the inaugural NYC Math Day on Saturday, June 6, at Brookfield Place with engaging mathematics-themed activities and an Awards Ceremony to honor the exceptional accomplishments of RSM students in national and international mathematics competitions.
RSM is suggesting to designate the first Saturday in June to be officially recognized as NYC Math Day, an annual celebration dedicated to honoring young mathematicians and inspiring a broader appreciation for mathematics across New York City.
The event will recognize the accomplishments of more than 800 RSM students across New York City, including nearly 500 students who achieved top scores in prestigious competitions such as AMC, AIME, MOEMS, and IMC during the 2025-2026 academic year.
The celebration will bring together students, families, and the broader community for a lively afternoon of mathematics-inspired activities, including interactive math games, a mall-wide Math Scavenger Hunt, a "Math Battle" where RSM students will put their parents to the test, and a Math Enthusiasts Parade.
"Mathematics is a powerful tool that develops both mind and character, equipping students with skills they will carry with them for life," said Maria Gofshteyn, RSM NY Regional Director. "Through NYC Math Day, we hope to celebrate the hard work and dedication of students and inspire even more children across the city to discover the beauty and power of mathematics."
Brookfield Place will serve as the central stage for this free and open-to-the-public celebration. The venue's partnership with RSM reflects a shared commitment to supporting education, community engagement, and academic excellence.
RSM has six locations in the New York City area and serves over 6,000 families across the region. The school has been ranked "one of the top 10 schools," with its students described as "some of the brightest young people in the world" by the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth.
The NYC Math Day Celebration & RSM Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 6 from 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM at Brookfield Place, 230 Vesey Street, New York, NY, in the Winter Garden.
Additional sponsorship is provided by the National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath), Department of Mathematics at Columbia University and Mommy Poppins. More information about the event can be found at: HERE
