From First Competition to Top 5: Owen’s Auto Detailing LLC Heads to France

Richmond, VA – August 18, 2026 – Matthew Owen of Owen’s Auto Detailing earned a Top 5 finish in the American division of the 2026 BODYFENCE PPF World Series qualifier during his first-ever PPF installation competition, advancing to the World Series Final in France in September 2026.

Earlier in the spring, HEXIS announced an installation competition just north of Atlanta, Georgia. Matthew saw the event as an opportunity to challenge himself, experience something new, and connect with other professionals in the PPF industry. He attended with his wife and new baby, without expecting to place in the competition.

“I really had no expectations, and just wanted to test myself and connect with other minds in the industry,” Matthew said.

Matthew competed in the first heat. The format required installers to work with different films across five vehicle sections, with 45 minutes for the hood and 15 minutes for each of the other sections.

He installed standard BODYFENCE clear film on the hood and mirror, matte BODYFENCE film on a fender, BODYFENCE Shield windshield protection film on a windshield, and tinted BODYFENCE film on a taillight.

Matthew brought his own tools and installation products, giving him a familiar setup despite the added pressure of strict time limits.

The competition emphasized installation quality rather than speed alone. The result earned Matthew a place in the three-day World Series Final in France, where he will compete against PPF installers from around the world.

The experience also gave him a better understanding of what to expect. Matthew plans to use what he learned to prepare for the final while maintaining the same mindset that helped him succeed in the qualifier.

France may bring unfamiliar vehicles and new challenges, but Matthew sees adapting as part of the profession.
