One month remains for early-career ATTR investigators to submit abstracts for an opportunity to present their research, connect with field leaders, and compete for $100,000 in research funding.

GEORGETOWN, Ky., Sept. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- With just one month remaining before the October 2, 2026 submission deadline, US-based early-career physician-scientists conducting research in ATTR amyloidosis are encouraged to submit their abstracts for the 3rd Annual ATTR Early-Career Research Forum.

Provided by Cornerstone Medical Education with sponsorship from AstraZeneca and Ionis Pharmaceuticals, the annual academic colloquium is designed to recognize, inspire, and equip the next generation of ATTR physician-scientists by providing an opportunity to present their research, receive feedback from leaders in the field, build scientific connections, and compete for significant research funding.

The top four investigators, selected through blinded abstract review, will be invited to present their research during a live virtual forum on October 29, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 PM ET. The top two presenters from the Live Virtual Forum, as scored by the Co-Chairs, will each receive a $100,000 Wiesman Award for Excellence in Early-Career ATTR Research, named in honor of the trailblazing ATTR clinician-researcher, Dr. Janice Wiesman.

For Dr. Evangelos Oikonomou of Yale School of Medicine, a past Wiesman Award recipient, the Forum offered value that extended beyond the award itself.

With the October 2 deadline approaching, eligible early-career physician-scientists are encouraged to submit their abstracts. As Oikonomou put it, "I would strongly encourage other young investigators to submit their abstracts."
