Building Where Life Happened: Doug and Holly Marrinson’s Canton Story

CANTON, Ga. — September 3, 2026 — After building their family and careers in the Canton area for nearly two decades, Doug and Holly Marrinson now operate their respective businesses side-by-side on the same property.
Doug Marrinson - State Farm Agent and Maple Ridge Animal Hospital share a three-acre property in Canton, bringing together two local businesses with personal ties to the community where the Marrinsons have raised their four children.
Doug and Holly married in 2006 and purchased their first Canton home in 2007. Their children have attended local schools, participated in area sports and grown up in the Canton, Woodstock and Hickory Flat community.
“We didn’t simply choose this community to build our businesses,” Doug said. “We built our businesses here because this is where we built our life.”
Doug opened his State Farm agency on January 1, 2010. After initially operating in Lawrenceville and later Roswell, he began the process of relocating the agency to Canton in 2017.
The agency operates from a 1962 house on three acres, a setting Doug had envisioned as an alternative to a traditional commercial office. The property was rezoned for commercial use before becoming home to the agency.
Years later, the same property provided an opportunity for Holly to pursue a longtime professional goal.
Holly had practiced veterinary medicine in the local community for about two decades, developing advanced surgical skills and relationships with local families. In 2025, she opened Maple Ridge Animal Hospital in a newly constructed facility next door to Doug’s office.
The hospital’s name also reflects the couple’s history. Maple was Holly’s first dog in veterinary school and the first pet she and Doug shared. Ridge comes from Ridge Road, where the couple purchased their first home in Canton.
For the Marrinsons, having the businesses together reflects the relationship-based nature of both professions. Doug helps customers with their insurance needs through State Farm, while Holly cares for animals that are important members of local families.
The location also keeps both businesses connected to the community where the Marrinsons live their daily lives. Their family’s ties include local schools, youth sports, church, community events and area businesses.
Today, the neighboring businesses represent the culmination of a journey that began when Doug and Holly first made Canton home in 2007.
For the Marrinsons, the shared property is less about bringing two businesses together than about continuing to build in the community where their family first put down roots.
